Say a Big Prayer for Sweden With Love

Yesterday my friend Fatima sent me this beautiful email PP with images and proverbs from around the world. One of them was particularly sweet. It said: “Love-me when I least deserve it, because that’s when I need it the most.” Awww how beautiful! The power point posted it as a Chinese proverb. Today I decided to find out who was the person behind such beauty.

I found out that it was not a Chinese but a Swedish proverb. And inspired, I tried (still to no avail) to find out who wrote such beautiful expression of love. So, on a mission, I was prepared to surf the web until the end (LOL) until I find my answer. What I did find, was some surprising and sad facts about Sweden as this 2005 poll indicated:

1) Only 23% of Swedes believe in God, yet 87% of funerals are held in church. (?)

2) Only 1% of the population attends church. Pews are barren in Sweden even on Sundays..

3) 50% of all priests are women in Stockholm.

4) The church has surprising open views on same sex marriage, divorce and abortion.

5) In the whole country, only three thousand are strong born again believers.

6) On a lighter note famous left-wing talk show host Goran Skytte, recently had a change of heart accepted Christ and wrote a book: “One Year with Jesus.” Which he also claims has saved his life twice, on 2 traffic accidents.

7) Ake Green, a Swedish Pentecostal pastor was sentenced to a month in prison for preaching against homosexuality.

8) Bjorn Atldax, the logo designer for the Cheap Monday jeans says his design (a skeleton with an upside cross) is not an antiestablishment vibe; it is an active statement against Christianity. The jeans are already sold here in the US.

9) Abortion is subsidized, no questions asked, and up to 18 weeks of pregnancy.

Nehemiah 1:3-4 And they said to me, "The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province [are] there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem [is] also broken down, and its gates [are] burned with fire." So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned [for many] days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
