The Block Party

When my daughter was a toddler she got lost in a huge block party at Center st in Danbury. I went inside the old Antonio’s Bar for shish-kabobs and “guaranas”, and when I came back the person who was watching her didn’t know where she was.

Desperation took over and everyone was running around like crazy when I spotted her in the arms of another “mother” lol A Spanish couple had found her and they were walking around looking for her parents.

My mind had already raced back to when I was just five years old. I was in Copacabana with my mother and sister. We stopped for a minute to look at the Circus, a toy store. I felt a strong pull in my arm as someone dragged me away. It was an old man with a navy corduroy suit, a black hat and thick green glasses. He was about to cross the Santa Clara Avenue when the light turned green. As we stopped at the street corner I yelled for my mom. I still remember her expression when her head turned and she saw me with him holding my arm, all hell broke loose for him. My mother had found me!

It was the exactly same feeling of extreme fear and extreme relief that I felt when my daughter was lost and found.

Now 18 years later at 11:37 at night I’m laying in my bed unable to go the sleep. I’m thinking of my daughter, no longer a toddler but a 20 years old young woman, a junior still. Told me she would be home no later then 11… I called she didn’t pick up and for some reason I could not sleep this time.

The Bible says that God never sleeps. Well maybe when all his kids are safely back home He will.

When a parent cant sleep waiting for a son or daughter to come there is no sound better than their walking in, followed by the sound of the door shutting safely. You don’t even care, at this point, if they smell like alcohol or smoke, they are home.

I’m sure God’s heart feels the same way when someone comes back to Him and now their relationship is restored. My son my daughter is home again. The Bible says that even if your mother would ever forget you, He would never! God is good and He is kind. He is a loving Father and we all need Him.

"Come, and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up." Hosea 6:1
